What the Interviewer Wants!

You have to understand that what the interviewer wants from you.

  • Your financial capacity to manage all expenses during the stay.
Honest Responses

A few pointers:

  • First and most important: get your facts straight. Don’t lie or confuse in the mid way of the interview. Remember that they already have all your documents and information, and they are trained to spot any lies.
  • Whenever the interviewer ask you probing questions, just know what to say. Like-
    • Why did you choose this destination?
    • Why not study in India?

Counselors officers are fond of asking  “what if” type questions to test your motivational skills. Be prepared to answer them. Here are a few examples:

  • What if someone offers a job after your study completion in the United States.
  • What if someone offers you a partnership in his/her business.

Do the groundwork and look deeply into the university you are applying at. Look at your course that you’ve applied for so that it will take you in the right path as set by you.

The interviewer may wish to know the reason for choosing specific place or university and when asked you need to answer the questions hesitation free.

You’ll need to answer questions relating to your financial status. So you need to check your bank balance and be ready for any kind of questions. If your parents are retired or you lack the funds then you need to explain how you are going to manage the funds and expenses there.

Look sharp, dress smart and interviewer calmly. Do not recite memorized answers. They will look if you are clear with your objectives.

Be polite. Listen to them carefully and answer only when asked. A little patience and good manners go a long way.

Be confident while meeting the visa officer. Don’t fidget around the desk or look too nervous. Also don’t pick up argument with your officer or interviewer.  The key to clear the interview is to present yourself well and sincerely.
